Life Network Australia is all about linking together a community of Australians who share the vision of a society where every child is nurtured from conception. By enabling like-minded people to share their concerns, information, enthusiasm, ideas and successes, we will release their potential to bring about life-affirming change. If you share our concern for mothers, fathers and their unborn children, why not join us by becoming a subscriber?
Life Network Australia envisions a society where every child is nurtured from conception.
Our mission is to initiate grassroots action by informed Australians who oppose the norm of abortion and who will act with passion and grace to see pregnant women and parenthood valued and supported in our society.
Our strategy is to inform, inspire and empower Australians to advocate for the unborn and their mothers.
Inform - To create awareness among Australians of the facts of abortion.
We aim to do this in two ways. Firstly, by preparing relevant, accurate, up to date information and presenting this to groups and individuals through face-to-face presentations and web-based material. Secondly we plan to pursue opportunities to present the facts about abortion to the Australian public through local and mainstream media.
Inspire - Develop a network of like-minded people who are motivated to pursue the prolife vision.
We anticipate a network of hundreds of interested groups and individuals who are commited to making abortion rare in Australia. We expect to inspire them by linking them to the work of the broader pro life movement in Australia and throughout the world.
Empower - Provide opportunity for action by linking the network with the work of other groups and activists.
We hope to enhance the work of existing anti-abortion groups in Australia and around the world by linking our subscribers with their efforts. In doing this we hope to empower ordinary Australians to pursue the pro life vision in their own way, in their own regions, with support from established groups. This may include political lobbying, prolife media work, pregnancy support, post abortion counselling, and other innovative initiatives.
Life Network Australia is both pro life, and pro woman. We believe that abortion kills children and hurts women – that abortion is a sign that society is failing to meet the needs of women. Our work therefore focuses equally on saving children’s lives, and on supporting women so that they can embrace motherhood with hope and confidence.
We believe that there are many ways to pursue our vision of a society where pregnant women are supported and unborn children are valued. We also understand that most people are not 100% for or against abortion, but somewhere in between. We aim to encourage and empower people of all faiths and philosophies to oppose the norm of abortion in a sensitive and compassionate manner, despite our diversity.
We aspire to compliment and enhance the work of passionate prolifers across Australia.
Sonja Couroupis (President)
When facing an unplanned pregnancy (at 25 years) I was shocked to immediately be asked by my GP whether I wanted to ‘continue my pregnancy or terminate?’. When I later read an article by Andrew Bolt We Kill Babies, I resolved to find out about abortion in Australia, its impact on women and to do what I could to save the needless deaths of so many of our babies. I believe that every life is precious and worth fighting for – particularly when the lives in question have no voice. I also believe all women and their families deserve better than abortion.
Linda Broekman
I became interested in pro life work after hearing a presentation by Sonja, and then reading Giving Sorrow Words by Melinda Tankard-Riest. Melinda’s book tells the stories of about 12 women and the way they suffered from grief and regret after having abortions. I was struck by the pattern in their stories: deceived by lies promising that everything would be alright, then racked by accusations and regret, with no hope of recovery or redemption. I believe that women who are informed and supported have no desire to harm their children, and that healing and hope are freely and powerfully available through Jesus Christ.
If you require support during your pregnancy, or are living with the after-effects of abortion, help is available. Our Inform page contains links to websites that offer understanding and assistance.
