Action Alert. Protest. HM The Queen's Birthday Honours.

Life Network Australia - Sunday, June 24, 2012

Contributed by  Denise M Cameron for Pro Life Victoria (Inc)

It has happened again...last time it was Abortion Provider Jo Wainer, before that it was Abortion Advocate Beatrice Faust ..and before that Wendy McCarthy of another abortion lobby, the Women's Electoral Lobby. Meantime, nominations of advocates for the rights of unborn children are rejected.

Below is the text of a letter I had published in Melbourne's Age newspaper on June 17 which may help you frame your protest at this outrage. We did so last time ...but we must not give up. If ever there was a time to remember Edmund Burke's words “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men and women to do nothing”, it is now.

"Surely it is an insult to the Queen that those responsible for recommendations for her Birthday Honours would include so many Australians who would

prefer to see their fellow Australians dead? Former premier Joan Kirner was honoured for founding Emily's List which pursued and succeeded in the 2008 passage of the most pitiless abortion legislation in the world. Dr Pieter Mourik was active locally in promoting the legislation and National Party MP Jeanette Powell disappointed her conservative constituents by voting for it. Professor Peter Singer is “infamous” for suggesting infanticide might be a good way to go.

Abortion Provider Jo Wainer got a gong last time. Overseeing all these these recommendations is Governor Quentin Bryce with her own record of pro abortion activism. Amongst all those listed is there one genuine “human rights”, “social justice” activist? Someone who has defended unborn children, Australia' s most vulnerable citizens, by helping their mothers choose life, not death for them?

These are the words of an email I received yesterday from an unknown supporter demonstrating we do have friends out there who appreciate our efforts: “ I’m writing to congratulate you on your letter published in the Sunday Age June 17th. It is about time that the truth was told about such people as our former Premier Joan Kirner, Dr Pieter Mourik, Jeanette Powell, Peter Singer and Quentin Bryce. None of these is a supporter of human rights for so long as they continue to support inhumane abortion legislation. Well done.”

Jill Stanek coming to Australia

Life Network Australia - Sunday, May 27, 2012

"Jill Stanek is a nurse turned prolife activist, blogger and speaker who is a national figure in the USA in the effort to protect both preborn and post born innocent human life.  As a registered nurse she discovered not only that abortions were done but that babies were being aborted live to die without medical care.

When hospital leaders said that they would not stop, Jill went public and has become a national figure in the effort to protect both born and pre-born infants".

The Jill Stanek website describes Jill's achievements, including:

"Testifying twice before the Judiciary Constitution Subcommittee of the U.S. House of Representatives and in several state legislatures.

Jill’s written testimony has been read several times in key U.S. Congressional debates on the Partial Birth Abortion Ban and Born Alive Infants Protection Act.

Jill remained at the hospital fighting the fight from the inside, until she was terminated in 2001 for reasons related to her public outspokenness to its abortion practices.

On August 5, 2002, President George W. Bush invited Jill to his signing of the Born Alive Infants Protection Act, which protects live aborted children from infanticide. Jill was honored to be publicly thanked for her help with the bill by the President during his speech.

In January 2003, World magazine named Jill as one of the 30 most prominent pro-life leaders in the movement over the past 30 years.

On November 5, 2003, President Bush invited Jill to his signing of the Partial Birth Abortion Ban, which protects partially delivered babies from being killed by abortion.

In January 2009, Jill was recipient of the prestigious Life Prizes Award by the Gerard Foundation.

For her pro-life writing MSNBC’s liberal commentator Keith Olbermann named Jill as the “Worst Person in the World!,” on June 4, 2009, a badge of honor she proudly wears. In 2011 News Real Blog named Jill one of the “Top Ten Enemies the Pro-Abortion Left Fears.”

Jill is a member of Parkview Christian Church in Orland Park, IL. She is wife to Rich, mother to three children, and grandmother to eight grandsons. She has addressed many groups at the local, regional, and national levels sharing her testimony and giving an insider’s view to the atrocity of abortion."

Jill's story is particularly relevant to Australia where partial birth abortion has not been banned. An amendment to ban the practice in Victoria was rejected by the former Brumby Government and remains unchanged by the Baillieu Government. While confronting, this is a powerful opportunity to hear from a nurse who stood up, refused to be complicit in abortion and has had a powerful impact in advocating for the unborn. Not to be missed.

Jill Stanek will be the key speaker at this year's annual Right to Life Australia conference, to be held on July 6 (opening dinner), 7 & 8 (conference). More details here (scroll down).

Jill will be speaking in Perth on Monday July 9: Presentation and supper
University Club of Western Australia, University of WA Crawley.
Ground floor seminar room 1.
7:15 pm refreshments, 8 pm start

Jill will also be speaking in Brisbane and Cairns on the 11 and 12th July 2012.

Life Coalition Dinner

Life Network Australia - Tuesday, May 15, 2012

Info from Salt Shakers.

The Life Dinner will be held on Saturday 23 June, 2012.

The Life Dinner is organised by Life Coalition and is a network of pro life groups in Victoria. It was initially formed during the fight against Victoria's Abortion Law Reform Act, which was passed in 2008.

The Life Dinner has been held for the past few years - usually with between 400 and 600 people attending. This year the Life Dinner will be held on Saturday 23 June - at Melrose Receptions in Tullamarine (it's hard to get a venue that is large enough to accommodate all those who want to attend!). Pre-dinner drinks are at 6.30 pm - the Dinner begins at 7 pm.

The Dinner is a fund-raiser to help raise money to combat anti-life legislation. There is an auction on the night - as well as a silent auction. All in all, it is a great night.

The cost is $80 for a 3 course meal, including drinks ($60 for students).

This year the Guest Speaker is Mr Alex Schadenberg, Executive Director of the Euthanasia Prevention Council of Canada. His topic is: To care not kill - supporting a culture of life.

US experts at Toowoomba seminar

Life Network Australia - Friday, May 11, 2012

Emily’s Voice is bringing two experts to Toowoomba to speak on the psychological effects of abortion on men and women. Dr Priscilla Coleman and Mr Greg Hasek, both from the USA, will speak at the free seminar on Wednesday, May 23, at Rangeville Community Church, 362 Mackenzie Street, from 7pm-9.30pm.

Dr Coleman is a Professor of Human Development and Family Studies at Bowling Green State University in Ohio. She has published more peer-reviewed articles on the mental health implications of abortion than any other researcher. She recently published in the British Journal of Psychiatry her alarming findings of a meta-analysis of 22 international studies on abortion.

She concluded that 20-30% of women who had an abortion suffered from serious, prolonged negative consequences.

Gregory Hasek is a licensed marriage and family therapist in Portland, Oregon and a professor in the graduate counseling program at George Fox University. He is also the executive director of a Christian non-profit agency called Misty Mountain Family Counseling Center. Mr. Hasek has spoken at numerous conferences and has provided training on how to understand and treat the unique symptoms of men wounded by “Lost Fatherhood” due to an abortion decision.

Write to reduce prolifer's jail sentence

Life Network Australia - Wednesday, May 09, 2012

Teresa Martin, President of Cherish Life Qld, has appealed for supporters to write and object to Graham Preston's jail sentence. Graham has been jailed for refusing to pay fines imposed for non-violently blocking the doorway of abortion clinics in Brisbane.

"Many of you may know that Graham Preston is currently serving time for not paying accumulated fines imposed on him due to his direct action. It seems that Graham is being made an example of and the question has to be asked, would any other person be sent to jail for non-payment of $8000 of fines?  Has any other person been so punished in this way for a non-violent action ie non-payment?  If not, then why is Graham being punished in this way?  Note that we are not endorsing non-payment of fines, nor that anyone should break the law nor disobey a police officer, merely that it seems unfair that he should go to jail when there is over $1million in outstanding fines, some of which would be over the $8000 mark.   Whether you agree or disagree with Graham’s actions, we are encouraging you to write respectfully to the Attorney General & Minister for Justice Jarrod Bleijie (pronounced Bley-ee) and pose those questions and make those points.  It is important that pro-lifers support each other.

Life Network Australia - Tuesday, March 20, 2012

The ‘Helpers of God’s Precious Infants’ are coordinating a fantastic initiative that I ask everyone to support. More and more people will be needed (as the year goes on) to join this peaceful campaign, which has the potential to directly influence Victorian politicians to change the abortion laws.

This campaign has already drawn some attention from the public who have commented that they had no idea that so many abortions were taking place in victoria.
